Chiropractic Care in West Los Angeles: Chiropractic is the art and science of manually moving or removing joint fixations in the spine and throughout the body. Joint fixations affect your body’s mobility and movement but they also have a muscular component and a neurological component. Perhaps the most important item to look for when choosing a West LA chiropractor is that arts and sciences are invariably subject to different interpretations and practice. The chiropractic care I provide is based not only upon my education, but also by my own experiences as a chiropractic patient. I am relatively conservative as both a chiropractor and patient, and believe that your recovery, and ultimately my success, lie in how little treatment you need— not how much. Find it, fix it, and leave it alone used to be the first chiropractor’s motto. Unfortunately, in today’s business of chiropractic care, multiple visits and monthly treatment plans are many chiropractors’ business models, but have little to do with a patient’s overall health. No one could possibly know how you and your body will respond to any treatment, especially as a new patient. Of the many chiropractic offices in West Los Angeles, I can assure you that with my experience, your initial treatment should provide some significant improvement and you will have the best insight as to how effective your treatment can be. With that experience and feedback, you will become a part of the decision making process and hopefully the recovery process.
Sciatica / Piriformis Syndrome: The term sciatica describes the symptoms of leg pain – and possibly tingling, numbness, or weakness – that originate in the lower back and travel through the buttock and down the large sciatic nerve in the back of the leg. The piriformis muscle can also irritate the sciatic nerve as it passes nearby. Both are easily treated with specific chiropractic adjustments that reduce the irritation on the nerve.
Herniated Discs: Herniated disc, bulging disc, slipped disc are often interchangeable terms. The cause of the pain, which is usually a pinched nerve or painful disc, is more important. From there, it is more useful for patients to understand that it is usually just mechanical dysfunction and that chiropractic adjustments can help guide the disc back into a more normal position. Disc problems constitute only a small portion of the causes of back pain and rarely require heavy medications or surgery for pain relief.
Sports InjuriesL: Soft-tissue injuries that occur with over-exertion or minor trauma affect the muscles, tendons and ligaments (soft-tissues). When the body is subjected to forceful impacts beyond its normal limits, the soft tissues can be compromised. Injuries to the back, arms and legs are often detected quickly and can be corrected with appropriate treatment. The key is not to wait too long, and simply hope it will go away.
Tailbone / Coccyx Pain: More than 90% of all tailbone pain is from trauma. You landed on it – or got injured and there is basically only one direction it can go. Up and in. No amount of anti-inflammatory medications, pain medications, injections or sitting on a doughnut pillow are going to relieve the symptoms or move the coccyx back to where it needs to be. A proper and specialized chiropractic adjustment can
Neck Pain: It’s common; there is a good chance that you have experienced some type of neck discomfort at one time or another. Neck pain can involve the discs, muscles, connective tissues and nerves in your neck, but mostly it involves a lack of movement of the vertebrae. Our gentle, precise chiropractic techniques can restore proper cervical motion and mobility and get you back to normal quickly.
Whiplash: Whiplash is the most common and well known injury from car accidents. It occurs when the force of the accident ‘whips’ the head violently backwards and then forwards farther and faster than the body can normally allow, resulting in the muscles, tendons and ligaments that support the spine being overstretched, torn or irritated. Chiropractic adjustments are the treatment of choice in over 90% of all whiplash cases because it helps restore normal motion and mobility.
TMJ Pain: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, affect the joint where your lower jaw meets your skull. Common symptoms include jaw pain, clicking, stiffness or an inability to open your mouth all the way. These symptoms are typically a result of the joint being injured, misaligned and/or tightened jaw muscles which can occur from grinding or clenching your teeth
